Struxture was engaged by Alfred Health as head contractor for the Urgent Infrastructure Project at 549 St Kilda Road. The project delivered multi level upgrades across the Ground Floor, Level 1 and Level 2, all while the facility remained fully operational. The redevelopment modernised key clinical and workplace areas through carefully sequenced staging, controlled services isolations and tight coordination within a live healthcare environment.
Works included the removal of existing ceilings, services and EMF shielding, followed by structural strengthening, full mechanical, hydraulic and electrical upgrades, and the integration of new joinery, finishes, glazing treatments and workstation improvements. Final commissioning and testing ensured a seamless transition back to Alfred Health’s teams.
Despite strict noise limits, complex isolations, and the challenges of EMF shielding removal and structural sequencing, the project was delivered with strong alignment, disciplined management and a focus on safety. The upgrade now provides modern, resilient and fit for purpose clinical and office spaces that support Alfred Health’s ongoing service delivery.
